Understanding File Upload Limits on Grain’s Free Plan
Understanding File Upload Limits on Grain’s Free Plan

Learn about user restrictions when it comes to uploading files to Grain.

Updated over a month ago

Grain offers powerful tools for recording, highlighting, and sharing meeting insights. On the free plan, certain limitations apply to ensure fair usage and maintain service quality. One key limitation is the number of files that can be uploaded.

File Upload Limits by Plan

Free Plan:

  • Lifetime Upload Limit: 5 total uploads regardless of meetings remaining.

Starter Plan:

  • Monthly Upload Limit: 10 uploads per month.

Business and Enterprise Plans:

  • Unlimited Uploads: No upload restrictions.

Meeting Recording Limits

  • Users on the free plan can still record up to 20 meetings for free directly via Grain’s bot integration (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet, etc.). This does not count toward the file upload limit.

Why This Limit Exists

The upload limit helps Grain continue offering a robust free tier while encouraging users to upgrade for more extensive needs. If you find yourself needing more uploads, upgrading to a paid plan will unlock:

  • Higher or unlimited upload limits.

  • Access to advanced features.

What to Do If You Hit the Upload Limit

If you’ve reached the upload limit and still need to upload additional files:

  1. Check Your File Usage:

    • Review the files you’ve uploaded to ensure they’re necessary.

    • Delete old files that are no longer needed to free up space.

  2. Upgrade to a Paid Plan:

    • Consider upgrading to one of Grain’s paid plans to increase or remove upload limits.

    • Visit the Grain Pricing Page to explore plan options.

  3. Record Meetings Directly:

    • Use Grain’s bot to record meetings directly instead of uploading files. This method does not count toward the upload limit.

    • Learn more about meeting recordings in our Help Center.

Common Questions

Q: Can I delete previously uploaded files to reset the limit?

A: The free plan’s upload limit is a lifetime limit and does not reset even if files are deleted. Upgrading to a paid plan is the only way to remove this restriction.

Q: How do I record meetings without uploading files?

A: Use Grain’s bot integration to join and record meetings on platforms like Zoom or Google Meet. This feature is included in the free plan.
