Grain's enriched AI transcript is a Markdown file that packages your full meeting transcript with metadata, participant history, and action items. It gives AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT the context they need to be useful right away.

What's in the file
Meeting info
The top of the file includes the meeting title, date and time, duration, and a link back to the recording in Grain.
Participants
Each participant is listed with their name, role, how many times you've met, and links to the three most recent meetings together. Those links point to enriched transcripts for those meetings. An AI tool can follow them to get the full history.
Previous action items
Outstanding action items from your last meetings with the same participants appear near the top. The AI sees what was supposed to happen since your last conversation without you having to explain it.
Full transcript
The complete speaker-labeled, timestamped transcript follows in clean Markdown.
Open in AI
A button in the top right corner of every meeting page gives you four actions:
Open in Claude opens Claude in a new window with a short prompt and a link to your transcript.
Open in ChatGPT does the same for ChatGPT.
Copy Transcript for AI copies the enriched Markdown transcript to your clipboard, ready to paste into any AI tool.
Download Transcript for AI downloads the
.mdfile directly.
How it works
Click the button and choose an action. For "Open in Claude" or "Open in ChatGPT," the AI tool opens in a new tab with a short prompt and a temporary link to your transcript.
Add your own prompt. Ask the AI to summarize the meeting, pull out action items, draft a follow-up, or anything else.
The AI fetches the enriched transcript from the link and gets to work.
Remembered preference
The button remembers which action you use most. If "Copy Transcript for AI" is your primary action, it becomes the default click. No dropdown needed next time.
Temporary links
Grain generates a temporary URL that expires after a few minutes. It is separate from your meeting's share link. Having one does not grant access to the other.
Disabling the AI buttons
If your organization doesn't allow sending meeting data to external AI tools, the buttons can be hidden for your workspace. Contact Grain support to enable this.
Other transcript formats
The enriched Markdown format is new. VTT, PDF, DOCX, and SRT downloads continue to work as before.
