A Story is a curated collection of clips assembled into a continuous viewing experience. Use Stories to share customer insights with your product team, build onboarding content for new reps, create sales enablement materials, or rally your team around the voice of the customer.
Create a story from scratch
Go to ‘Stories’ in the left sidebar and click ’+ New story’
Add a title and optionally a description and background image
Click ’+ Add New Clip’ to add clips to the story
Optionally organize clips into sections, which are named groups that help viewers navigate the story by theme or topic
Reorder clips and sections by dragging them
Create a story from a clip
From any clip on a recording page on either the ‘Transcript’ or ‘Clip’ tab:
Click the ’Add to story’ button
Select an existing story to add the clip to, or create a new one
See Clips for more information on creating clips.
Sections
Sections let you group related clips within a story under a named heading. For example, a Voice of Customer story might have sections for "Pain Points," "Competitive Mentions," and "Positive Feedback."
To add a section, click ’+ Add section’ in the story editor and give it a name. Drag clips between sections to reorganize them.
Sharing a story
There are three ways to share a story:
Watch-only link: copy a link from the share panel. Anyone with the link can watch the story without a Grain account.
Invite by email: enter an email address in the share panel to give a specific person access to watch and collaborate on the story.
Share to workspace: select ’All workspace members’ in the share panel to make the story visible to all members of your Grain workspace.
Embedding a story
Stories can be embedded in external tools like Notion, Confluence, or any platform that supports embed links. Copy the embed link by selecting the three-dot menu to the right of the story title and clicking ‘Copy embed iframe,’ then paste it into your tool of choice.
Tags
You can tag a story from the story editor to organize it and make it easier to find. See Tags for more details.
Create stories via MCP
If you use the Grain MCP, you can create stories and add clips to them using natural language. See Grain MCP for setup details.
