Grain has two separate Slack connections that serve different purposes:
Workspace connection: connects your Grain workspace to Slack to enable meeting notification automations. Set up once per workspace.
Personal connection: connects your individual Slack account to enable sending Clips to Slack. Set up by each user.
Connect Slack to your workspace
Workspace-level connection enables automated notifications to Slack when meetings are recorded. This requires admin access in Grain.
Click ’Connect Slack’
Sign in to Slack and authorize Grain to access your workspace
Once connected, you will see your Slack workspace name listed as connected
Set up notification automations
Once the workspace is connected, workspace members can create automations that post to a Slack channel when meetings are recorded.
Under ’Meeting notifications’ click ‘+ New notification’
Select filters to dictate which meetings trigger the Slack notification automation:
Owner: filter on who owns the meeting
Trackers: filter on various trackers from your workspace
Tags: filter on tags used across your workspace
Participants: filter by which participants were in the meeting
Company: filter by which companies were associated with a meeting
Meeting type: filter by internal or external meetings
Team: select which team the meeting belongs to
Select the Slack channel to post to
Click ‘Create notification’ to save the automation
Each automation posts a summary of the meeting to the selected channel when the trigger conditions are met. Multiple automations can run independently.
Connect your personal Slack account
A personal Slack connection lets you send Clips and meeting notes to Slack from within Grain. Each user sets this up individually.
Scroll to the bottom and click ’Connect your Slack account’
Sign in to Slack and authorize Grain
Once connected, you can:
Send meeting notes to Slack: from the Summary tab on any recording page, click the send summary icon and select ‘Send to Slack’
Send a clip to Slack: from the three-dot menu on any clip, select ’Send to Slack’
Note: Sending notes or clips to Slack requires both the workspace connection and your personal connection to be active.
Disconnect Slack
Workspace connection: go to Workspace settings → Integrations → Slack and click ’Disconnect’ from the three-dot menu next to the workspace connection. This removes all notification automations.
Personal connection: go to Workspace settings → Integrations → Slack and click ’Disconnect’ next to your personal connection.
