App Settings

Configure how the Grain desktop app behaves on your computer.

App settings are only available in the Grain desktop app, they are found under Workspace settings → App.

App behavior

Open links in desktop app

When enabled, Grain links always open in the desktop app instead of your browser.

Open Grain app on system startup

When enabled, Grain launches automatically when you log in to your computer. Recommended if you use Desktop Capture, so Grain is always ready when a meeting starts.

Meeting reminder notifications

Get a desktop notification 1 minute before each scheduled meeting starts, with a quick link to join.

Note: If this toggle is on but reminders aren't appearing, the issue is usually at the OS level — check that Grain is allowed to send notifications in your system notification settings (macOS: System Settings → Notifications; Windows: Settings → System → Notifications).

Meeting detection notifications

Get notified to start capturing when you join a meeting that isn't set to auto-capture. Useful if you want to manually decide on a meeting-by-meeting basis without missing the prompt.

Open notepad when Grain starts recording

Automatically opens the Grain notepad when a recording begins, so you can take notes alongside the AI transcript.

Open to meeting after recording ends

Automatically opens the Grain app to the meeting page when a recording finishes, so you can review and share notes right away.

Auto-capture

These settings correspond to the Desktop capture settings you have set.
