You can connect Grain to Perplexity as a custom remote connector. Once it's set up, you can ask Perplexity about a meeting the same way you'd ask any other question, and it pulls the transcript, AI notes, or action items from Grain behind the scenes.
Grain isn't one of Perplexity's built-in connectors, so you'll add it as a custom remote MCP connector. This is available on Perplexity Pro, Max, and Enterprise plans.
Turn on custom connectors for your organization
If you're on Perplexity's Enterprise plan, an admin needs to allow custom connectors before anyone in the org can add one.
Go to 'Enterprise settings', then 'Permissions', then 'Connectors permissions'.
Turn on 'Allow members to add custom connectors'.
Note: This toggle is off by default. If members can't see the option to add a custom connector, this is almost always why.
Add Grain as a custom connector
You can add Grain for just your own account, or for your whole organization if you're an admin.
Go to the one of the following settings pages depending on your use case:
'Account settings' then 'Connectors' for your own account, or
'Enterprise settings' then 'Permissions' then 'Connectors permissions' for the organization.
Select '+ Custom connector' in the top right corner.
In the pop-up, select 'Remote'.
Enter a display name, for example "Grain", and Grain's MCP server URL (https://api.grain.com/_/mcp).
Check the acknowledgement box confirming you understand the risks of custom connectors.
Select 'Add'.
The connector now appears on the 'Connectors' screen in Account settings. Select the connector card to start authentication and enable it.
Share an organization-wide connector
If an admin added Grain for the whole organization, it doesn't automatically show up for everyone else yet.
Go to 'Enterprise settings', then 'Permissions'.
Find the Grain connector and share it with the organization.
Test the connection
Once Grain is connected, confirm it's working before relying on it.
Start a new query.
Select the '+' icon in the search box, open 'Connectors and sources', and make sure 'Grain' is selected.
Try a broad test prompt first, for example "Using Grain, what was my most recent meeting?"
Confirm the response references specific meeting details rather than a generic answer, which tells you Perplexity actually called Grain rather than answering from general knowledge.
You can also invoke Grain directly in a query by typing "@Grain" followed by your question, instead of selecting it from Connectors and sources first. If Grain doesn't respond as expected, check that you're signed into the account the connector was added to, and that an admin has shared it with you if it was added org-wide.
How results are surfaced
When Perplexity uses Grain to answer a query, the response includes Grain as a cited source alongside any web results, the same way Perplexity cites any other source.

Why can't I see the option to add a custom connector? An admin has to turn on 'Allow members to add custom connectors' in Connectors permissions first. It's off by default for every organization.
I added Grain for the organization, but my teammates don't see it. What's wrong? Nothing is broken. Adding an organization-wide connector and sharing it are separate steps. Go back to 'Enterprise settings', then 'Permissions', and share the Grain connector before anyone else can use it.
