Clips

Capture and share the moments that matter from any meeting.

A clip is a short video segment taken from a recording, anchored to the corresponding transcript text. Clips are the building blocks of Stories and the fastest way to share a specific moment from a meeting without sending someone the full recording.

Create a clip

From the transcript

  1. Open any recording page and go to the ’Transcript’ tab

  2. Highlight the text you want to include in the clip

  3. Click the ’Clip’ button that appears

  4. Give the clip a title, or let Grain's AI generate one for you

  5. Click ’Create’. The clip appears in the ’Clips’ tab on the recording page.

From the live meeting

During a recording, click ’+ New clip’ at the bottom of the Private Notes tab in the Grain Notepad to capture the current moment. You can also highlight the live transcript to create a clip. See Live meeting experience for more.

Via MCP

If you use the Grain MCP, you can create clips using natural language by describing the moment you want. See Grain MCP for setup.

Share a clip

Click the link icon on any clip to copy a direct URL. Anyone with the link can watch the clip, no Grain account is required.

If the viewer is a workspace member and the recording has been shared with the workspace, they will also see an option to open the full recording from the clip.

Additional clip options

Click the three-dot menu on any clip for additional sharing and export options:

  • Add to Story: add the clip to an existing or new Story

  • Download clip: download the clip as a video file to your computer

  • Copy clip transcript: copy the clip's transcript text to your clipboard

  • Copy embed iframe: copy the clip’s embed iframe to your clipboard

  • Send to Slack: send the clip to a Slack channel or direct message

  • Delete clip: permanently deletes the clip for everyone

Note: Sending a clip to Slack requires both a workspace-level Slack connection and a personal Slack connection. If the 'Send to Slack' option is greyed out or unavailable, check your Slack integration setup.

View all clips

All clips from a recording are listed in the ’Clips’ tab on the recording page. To see all clips across an entire recording, go to ’Clips’ tab.
