All billing settings require admin access.
How Grain's pricing works
Grain charges per paid seat, billed monthly or annually. Annual billing includes an upfront discount.
Paid seat: full access to recording, AI notes, and all plan features. Required for anyone who records meetings.
Free seat (viewer): can log in, view recordings shared with them, and comment. Not billed.
All paid seats in a workspace must be on the same plan. You cannot mix Starter and Business seats in the same workspace. To change the plan tier, all paid seats upgrade or downgrade together. You can, however, have a mix of both paid and free seats. If at least one member in your workspace is on a paid plan (e.g., Starter), you can add as many free seats as you'd like.

Purchase a plan
If you don’t already have a Grain account, you’ll need to sign up for one at grain.com and then follow these steps:
Select your plan tier and billing frequency (monthly or annual)
Enter your payment details and confirm
Change your plan
To upgrade or downgrade your plan tier:
Click ’Change plan’
Select the new plan tier and confirm
Upgrading takes effect immediately. Downgrading takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle.
Add paid seats
To purchase additional paid seats:
Click ’Buy seats’ in the top right to purchase additional seats, then select the members you’d like to purchase seats for
Alternatively, to upgrade an existing free seat user to a paid seat, you can:
Click the dropdown next to the member’s name in the ‘Seat’ column and select ’Paid’
When adding seats mid-billing cycle, the additional seats are prorated for the remainder of the cycle.
Remove paid seats
To reduce the number of paid seats:
Click the dropdown next to the member under the ‘Seat’ column and select ’Free viewer’ to downgrade them to a free seat
Go to Workspace settings → Billing to confirm the seat reduction takes effect
Payment methods
Grain processes payments via Stripe. Credit card is the standard payment method and can be updated directly in Workspace settings → Billing.
ACH (bank transfer) is available on request. Contact help@grain.com to set up ACH as your payment method.
Update payment method
Click ’Update’ next to your current payment method or billing cycle
Enter the new payment details and save
Note: Payment details can be updated directly in your billing settings. For all other billing changes, including updating your billing email, contact help@grain.com.
View and download invoices
Scroll to the ’Invoices’ section
Click ‘View invoice’ to open and see download options for a given invoice
Cancel your paid subscription
Click ’Change plan’ and select the Free subscription tier
Your paid subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period. Your data is retained after cancellation, recordings and notes are not deleted automatically.
Enterprise billing
Enterprise customers receive custom invoicing and are billed directly. Contact your dedicated customer success manager for billing changes, seat additions, or invoicing questions.
