Upload meetings

Bring recordings captured outside of Grain into your meeting library.

Grain supports uploading audio and video files directly and importing recordings from Zoom Cloud. Uploaded recordings are transcribed and processed the same way as bot and desktop captures, you get a full transcript, AI notes, and action items.

Note: File uploads require a paid Grain seat. Free accounts cannot upload recordings.

Upload a recording

  1. Go to your Meetings page and click ’+ New’ in the top-right corner.

  2. Select ’File upload’.

  3. Drag and drop your file into the upload area, or use the file picker to select it from your computer.

  4. Multiple files can be uploaded at the same time.

Supported formats

File types

.mp4, .mov, .mp3, .wav, .m4a

Codec

H.264

Maximum length

2 hours per recording

Import from Zoom Cloud

To import recordings stored in Zoom Cloud:

  1. Connect Grain to Zoom under Workspace settings → Integrations → Zoom. Make sure the integration is enabled in both Grain and your Zoom account settings.

  2. Go to your Meetings page and click ’+ New’.

  3. Select ’Zoom import’.

  4. Choose the recording to import.

Zoom imports follow the same 2-hour length limit as direct file uploads.

After uploading

Uploaded recordings appear in your Meetings page once processing is complete. They are transcribed and summarized the same way as recorded meetings.

Speaker labels may not be automatically identified for uploaded recordings. Learn more about assigning speaker names here.

Troubleshooting

Upload fails or errors on an unsupported file type: check that your file is one of the supported formats above. If not, use a converter tool like Handbrake to convert it to MP4 (H.264) and try again. Note that podcast files with embedded album artwork are not supported.

Upload exceeds the 2-hour limit: Grain does not support recordings longer than 2 hours. Split the file before uploading.

Slow upload or timeout: file uploads are processed from US-based servers. Users outside the US may experience slower upload speeds that can result in a timeout. If this happens, try uploading a smaller file or on a faster connection.

For other upload errors, see Troubleshooting Failed Uploads.
